Restoration of Aladža mosque is going better than expected, said the mufti of Goražde, Remzija ef. Pitić. The process of extracting and processing stone from the quarry that was used in the time of its construction is especially challenging.
“We hope that the restoration of Aladža mosque will be completed by the end of the year. We need all kinds of restorations, we as a people as well as the centuries old tradition of this country, which should be the most beautiful part of it. I am infinitely happy with a fact that there was no incidents during the process of restoration. Aladža Mosque is being restored in a positive environment. We recently visited this site with our colleagues from the Orthodox Church, and right after went to visit an Orthodox temple that is in the process of construction near the Aladža mosque. I asked my colleague Danilo Crnogorac if we can help them to finish the temple. This is what we really need, as well as the all the people who want to be humane. Aladža is not just a mosque, it is much more than that and we are hoping that after its restoration, Foča will be much beautiful city” – added Pitić.
Bosniaks and Serbs are building the mosque together
“Here is 13 of us, both Bosniaks and Serbs. We don’t have any aversion towards each other, nor we start some difficult topics, just business,” says Mehmed Trgo, a worker on the preparation of materials intended for the installation.
Officials from the Majlis of Islamic association Foča expressed their joy of seeing the former beauty of the symbol of the city and BH National Monument, after more than 23 years.
“Our neighbors react positively, our neighbors from Foča, who always come here, asking if we need any help. We are thrilled that Aladža mosque will return beauty to Foča, the beauty that this town had before the war,” said the president of Majlis Foča, Salem ef. Ćemo.
