Sergio Ramos (38), once one of the best defenders in the world, is the new player of the Mexican club Monterrey.

He decided to extend his career and signed a two-year contract with the Mexican club, to which he joined from Sevilla after six months of searching for an engagement.

The former Real Madrid star will wear the number 93 jersey in Monterrey. He chose the number, as stated by the famous Spanish club, in memory of one of the most important goals in his career.

It happened in the 93rd minute of the 2014 UEFA Champions League final when Ramos scored against city rival Atletico Madrid for 1:1 and brought Real to extra time in which the “royal club” reached the trophy.

“The legend of our club chose to wear the number 93 in the new club because of the 93rd minute and the goal that we all remember. It is a tribute to the fans of our club and we will always be grateful to Sergio for that,” Real Madrid’s official account on the social network X writes.

Ramos played for Real for 16 seasons. He played 671 games, scoring 101 goals and 40 assists as a defender. He won a handful of trophies with the Madrid team, including four UEFA Champions Leagues. He was also FIFA Club World Champion the same number of times.

The former captain of the Spanish national team played in 180 matches and scored 23 goals. With the “Red Fury”, he was the world champion and twice the European champion.
