UN Security Council

The session of the Security Council of the UN which will discuss a Draft resolution of Great Britain on Srebrenica, was postponed for today at 4.00 p.m., and Russia announced that it will veto unless a draft of the British resolution is changed. Russians are bothered with the word genocide and want it to be changed or they will veto during today’s discussion. As a reminder, the session was first postponed for an hour due to the Russian veto threats, and then was later postponed for 9.00 p.m. after a request from China not to discuss the resolution unless a consensus of all members is achieved.

Neither B&H nor Serbia will participate in the discussion, since they are not members of the Security Council of the UN.

In order for the resolution to be accepted, a two-thirds majority is required, i.e. nine out of 15 countries, with the condition that none of the five permanent members (USA, Russia, China, France and Great Britain) does not veto it.
