Sirens and a one-minute standstill on the streets of Sarajevo honored the victims and marked the 28th anniversary of the genocide in Srebrenica.

The municipal operational centers of civil protection in the area of the Canton of Sarajevo broadcast the signal “end of danger” today at exactly 12 o’clock through the device for broadcasting the warning signal (siren).

A monophonic tone lasting 60 seconds was played on the occasion of marking the 28th anniversary of the genocide against Bosniaks in Srebrenica.

In accordance with the earlier appeal of the Sarajevo Cantonal Administration of Civil Protection, citizens stood on the streets during the sounding of the sirens, stopped vehicles and thus paid tribute to the victims of the genocide.

On the 28th anniversary of the genocide in Srebrenica, the remains of 30 victims will be buried today in the cemetery of the Memorial Center in Potočari.
