The Ministry of Health of Canton Sarajevo (CS) is already implementing the verification of the electronic RVI-04 (RVI – disabled war veteran) prescription for war invalids, which represents a very significant relief for this population.
As stated by the relevant ministry, until now RVI beneficiaries had to go through multi-step administrative procedures in order to exercise the right to a medical aid: from a referral at the family doctor, through a specialist, the Health Insurance Institute of CS, the Ministry of Health and specialized shops, which often required several days of movement and the submission of personal documents. Many, due to complications and health conditions, gave up their rights.
The new electronic procedure drastically reduces the bureaucratic burden.
Namely, an RVI patient now goes only to a specialist, after which he directly takes over the medical aid in a specialized shop of his choice, while all administrative procedures are carried out electronically, under the supervision of the Ministry of Health of CS and the Health Insurance Institute of CS.
This system not only saves time and effort for beneficiaries but also reduces the possibility of abuse of RVI status, duplication of approvals, and manipulations.
The Ministry of Health of CS has connected all relevant institutions and registers – from specialized shops, health centers, Clinical Center, Faculty of Dentistry with the dental clinical center, pharmacies, to the RVI register of CS – into a unified electronic system.
Despite numerous challenges, we persevered in order to ensure quality, faster, and safer service for our RVI patients, as announced by the Protocol and Press Service of CS.
