Traffic at the border crossing at the exit and entrance to Croatia near Neum fell drastically 12 days after the newly built Peljesac bridge was put into traffic.
According to some estimates, the traffic decreased up to 70 percent compared to the time before the existence of the bridge.
This is supported by the footage from the Croatian auto club (HAK) cameras at the Klek border crossing. There is not a single car on either side of the border, and the former traffic jams at this time of year are clearly a thing of the past.
According to Croatian Roads data, 176.200 vehicles crossed the bridge in both directions by 12 p.m. yesterday.
Depending on the day, the number of vehicles that cross the bridge ranges from 12.000 to 16.000.
So far, there have been no traffic accidents on the bridge and the new Peljesac road, but several traffic violations have been recorded.
The biggest problem at the bridge so far has been the cleanliness of the toilets at the Komarna rest area and the rest area itself, Klix.ba reports.
