SIPA Arrested 6 Persons for Illicit Trafficking of Medicines and Human Trafficking

SIPAPolice officers of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) arrested six persons in operation “Potential“ for illicit trafficking of medicines and human trafficking, and they searched facilities at 12 locations in area of Tuzla, Živinice, Bijeljina, Brčko District, Ugljevik and Mrkonjić-Grad.

The activities were conducted on orders of the Court of BiH and the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH in cooperation with police officers of MoI of Republika Srpska and Brčko District Police.

During the search they found and temporarily confiscated greater amount of medical preparations, stimulatives originating from India, whose production, trade and distribution is not allowed without approval of the Agency for Medicines and Medical Devices of BiH and other items that can serve as evidence in further procedure.

During search of one facility in area of Tuzla, four female persons were found, potential victims of human trafficking, who were adequately taken care of.

Multi-month investigation preceded operation “Potential“, during which illicit human trafficking from India to BiH was documented and human trafficking for sexual exploitation, SIPA stated.
