The seizure of drugs and the arrest followed months of work aimed at uncovering international narcotics smuggling.

Police officers of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) yesterday arrested one person in the area of Jablanica who is suspected of unauthorized production and distribution of narcotic drugs.

“As part of months-long work on the case, with the aim of uncovering international smuggling of narcotic drugs, SIPA police officers, while stopping a passenger motor vehicle in the area of Jablanica, during a search of the suspect’s vehicle, discovered and temporarily seized 65 kilograms of dried herbal material resembling the narcotic drug skunk.

The person deprived of liberty was taken to the official premises of SIPA for criminal processing and questioning in the capacity of a suspect. The further status of the person deprived of liberty will be determined by the acting prosecutor of the Cantonal Prosecutor’s Office of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton (HNC),“SIPA stated.

The stated activities were, as emphasized, carried out on the basis of an oral order of the Municipal Court in Konjic and under the supervision of the Cantonal Prosecutor’s Office of the HNC.

Operational action M-17 was carried out in cooperation with police officers of the Ministry of the Internal Affairs of the HNC, SIPA stated.
