Police officers of the Agency for Investigations and Protection (SIPA) today carried out operation “Ford” in the area of Zenica-Doboj and Sarajevo Canton, during which they arrested one person suspected of organizing a group for smuggling migrants.
One location, which is used by a person deprived of liberty, was searched, SIPA announced.
During the search, temporarily confiscated items were discovered that can be used as evidence that the above-mentioned crimes were committed, namely money, a passenger motor vehicle and other items that can be used as evidence in further proceedings.
The person deprived of liberty was taken to Sipe’s premises for criminal processing and questioning as a suspect, after which he will be handed over to the further jurisdiction of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH.
These activities were carried out by order of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina and under the supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Operative action “Ford” was realized in cooperation with officials of the Service for Affairs with Foreigners of Bosnia and Herzegovina and police officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton.
Activities in the mentioned case are supported by the project “EU for support of prevention against human trafficking and migrant smuggling in the Balkans /EU4FAST/.
Sipa, together with its partner agencies, continues decisive activities aimed at discovering, breaking up and prosecuting organized criminal groups, it was stated in the announcement.
