Police officers of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA), as part of the operational action “Broker”, in the Sarajevo area, conducted searches at three locations, namely two business and one residential building.

Also, as part of the aforementioned activities, a safe deposit box in a commercial bank was searched, during which evidence important for further criminal proceedings was found and temporarily confiscated, SIPA announced.

In accordance with the provisions of the Law on Prevention of Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorist Activities, a temporary suspension of transactions was carried out on several accounts opened in the name of natural persons.

One person was deprived of his liberty due to the existence of grounds for suspicion that he committed the criminal offenses of “Abuse of position or authority” and “Money laundering” prescribed by the Criminal Code of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. A person deprived of liberty illegally traded shares of one of the issuers of shares on the securities market in Bosnia and Herzegovina during a certain period of time.

The searches were carried out by order of the Cantonal Court in Sarajevo and under the supervision of the Cantonal Prosecutor’s Office of Sarajevo Canton, SIPA stated.
