The State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) has not yet received answers and documentation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) and the Border Police of BiH regarding the determination of diplomatic status and other facts about High Representative Christian Schmidt and members of his security.
SIPA has received documentation from the Ministry of Security of BiH, which was previously submitted to the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH, and expects additional requested answers from the aforementioned ministry.
In response to the question of whether SIPA has additional evidence of Schmidt’s stay in BiH, the agency notes that after establishing the factual situation, they will submit an appropriate report to the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH, under whose orders and supervision they are taking all measures with this goal.
“After receiving the requested reports and documentation regarding the status of Schmidt, and especially answers to the questions – when and how he was granted diplomatic status, on the basis of which documentation, on which legal basis, and by whom it was done, although it is known that he was not appointed an adequate by the decision of the United Nations (UN) Security Council, SIPA will submit a report to the Prosecutor’s Office on the basis of the analysis and established factual situation, i.e. the existence of omissions and possible criminal liability,” explained this police agency.
SIPA requested checks and status of the persons providing security for Schmidt and the legal basis for importing and carrying weapons and ammunition in BiH.
“In order to determine all of the above, it is clear that we need the answers and documentation that we requested from the competent institutions, primarily the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Border Police. They have not yet provided the requested information,” SIPA pointed out.
This agency notes that they did not participate in any activities related to the granting of diplomatic status to Schmidt and members of his security, nor are they responsible for it.
BiH Security Minister Nenad Nesic said that based on all the information received, he expects the Prosecution of BiH to conduct an investigation against Christian Schmidt. He pointed out that he expects the same reaction from other security and similar agencies that have a connection with Christian Schmidt’s stay in BiH.
Director of the Service for Affairs with Foreigners, Zarko Laketa, said that Schmidt crossed the border crossing when entering BiH as a deputy, that is, as a German diplomat, and not as a UN diplomat.
Finally, it should be recalled that the director of SIPA, Darko Culum, an official who recently attended a political gathering organized by the Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations, Stasa Kosarac, is from SNSD, whose president is Milorad Dodik, Klix.ba reports.
