Široki Brijeg: Center for Information, Advice and Training Open

Široki_Brijeg,_glavni_trgThe Ambassador of Spain to BiH Maria Aurora Mejia Errasquin, Prime Minister of the West-Herzegovina Canton Zdenko Ćosić and the Mayor of Široki Brijeg Miro Kraljević opened yesterday in Široki Brijeg a new Center for Information, Advice and Training (CISO).

This center will act as part of the Employment Services of the West Herzegovina Canton, and will lend young people up to 30 years of age assistance in finding a job.

According to the Head of CISO Hrvoj Mandić, the goal of the Center is not to find a job, but rather to train young people, provide information, advice and assistance in mastering new skills, which would ultimately help them in finding the jobs for which they are trained.

Mandić added that CISO earlier provided free courses for computer and foreign languages, which are still abolished due to the economic crisis.

“We will do our best so that this center could operate at another level. We hope how we would help the unemployment rate, which is 36 percent in the West Herzegovina Canton. This is the lowest in BiH, and if nothing else we stay at this level and one day we will reduce it’’, said Mandić.

The project of opening CISO centers is a part of the Employment and Retention of Young People Program (YERP), which is being jointly implemented by UN agencies (UNDP, UNICEF, UNFPA, IOM and UNV) in cooperation with local institutions, among which is the Employment Services.

The program is being supported by the Kingdom of Spain government through the Fund for Achieving the Millennium Development Goals.
