SorS 2013: Insurance Companies From Around the World in Sarajevo

sa (1)Social responsibility of insurance agencies, liberalization of the insurance market, insurance and automobile liability and banking insurance in the development of the insurance market are the main themes of the 24th SosR, a traditional gathering of insurance and reinsurance companies, which will be held in Sarajevo from 19-21 June. The state of the insurance market in BiH, Montenegro, Croatia, Macedonia, Slovenia and Serbia will be presented.

This year’s SorS, which is being held in the Sarajevo hotel Bristol, will gather around 150 representatives of insurance agencies from countries in the region, and a particular importance of the conference is given to the participation of a larger number of foreign guests from Great Britain, Germany, Austria, Czech Republic, Denmark, Switzerland, Turkey and other countries. In addition to insurers, the attendance of representatives of the BiH government is expected, as well as institutions that monitor the operation of insurance companies and associations of insurance companies from the countries in the region.

On the basis theme of this years SorS, a lecture on the corporate social responsibility of the activities of insurance, market liberalization and automobile insurance and banking insurance in the development of the insurance market. At the opening of the conference a presentation is expected on the state of the insurance market in countries in the region and the comparison of the insurance sector in the countries of the former Yugoslavia. The last day of the conference will have two roundtables on the topic “Insurance protection of travelers, pedestrians and cyclists in road traffic’’, and “Reinsurance’’.

“SorS is an opportunity for a large number of experts from the insurance industry to meet. There are always representatives of the largest insurance companies and reinsurance companies from Europe and the region. One thing is certain, this is a meeting where for three days we concentrate on almost complete knowledge from insurance and reinsurance in the region, and from the EU. If you wish to get to know people who know how to do their jobs, people who are involved in insurance as university professors, people who have doctorates and master degrees on the issue of insurance, then you can do that at SorS’’, said the General Secretary of SorS Damir Lačević.

The first meeting of insurance and reinsurance was held in 1980 in Split. In 1981, with the same name, the meeting was held in Sarajevo where SorS was continued to be held until 1990. After the war, SorS emerged again in 2000. In 2006, the Association of Insurance Companies of SorS was founded with a seat in Sarajevo. With the Association of Insurance Companies SorS, the organizer and media sponsor of SorS is the company Tectus d.o.o, or magazine “Svijet Osiguranja’’ (world of insurance”. The steering committee for SorS Association is made up of representatives of 14 companies from BiH, Montenegro, Croatia, Macedonia, Slovenia and Serbia.

The President of the Association of Insurance Companies SorS this year is Vladimir Toševski, the General Director of Osiguritelna Polisa, and the General Secretary of the Association is Damir Lačević, the Director of Bosna Re.
