According to official data from the Headquarters of Civil Protection of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton (HNK) and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the HNK, the number of people who died in the flood-affected areas of the HNK, as of this report, is 16 dead.
Of the total number of fatalities, fifteen people are from Jablanica, one from Konjic, while last night there was another unverified report of another dead person in the area of Buturović Polje.
In Konjic, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the search continues for four reported missing persons, while in Jablanica, the number now officially stands at five missing persons whose disappearance was reported by their relatives, friends and neighbors. Of the 16 who died, one body is still unidentified.
In the area of the Municipality of Jablanica, in Donja Jablanica, rescue teams are constantly on the ground searching the area for the missing. In addition to the local forces, several rescue teams from Croatia, Serbia and Turkey also provide assistance. Professional services and volunteers deliver food, water, medicines and other necessities to people in villages cut off by roads.
From the Jablanica Civil Protection, a request was sent to the Headquarters today to secure an additional 200 beds for the accommodation of rescuers. Thanks to the direct assistance of the Administration for Civil Protection of the Western Herzegovina Canton, 100 beds were delivered to Jablanica during the day, while assistance for the delivery of the remaining amount was sent to the Federal Administration of Civil Protection.
In Konjic as well, all available teams are constantly on the ground and working to clear the roads to the cut off villages. Today, the rescue teams made their way to the villages of Lipovci and Lukšija, from where they evacuated the stranded residents. The arrival of a convoy from Slovenia with rescue services and machines that will be made available to the Konjic rescue teams was also announced.
Temporary accommodation in family homes, hotels, old people’s homes is provided for all persons left without homes, with the possibility of collective accommodation, which is now used by rescuers for overnight accommodation and rest.
Road communication towards Donja Jablanica on all established routes is still available for use exclusively by rescue services and other vehicles with special approvals. While the MUP of the HNK clearly warns drivers not to go on the road to Jablanica, all civil protection centers appeal that no one sets out to provide help without reporting to their operational centers, whether it is rescuers or delivering life-saving supplies and necessities.
As for Drežnica (City of Mostar), the situation on the ground is stable for now. The road to Gornja Drežnica is passable for small vehicles, while the passage to the villages of Rogobrdo and Perutac has been established for off-road vehicles. Diva Grabovica is still isolated from traffic, and work is being done to establish road communication. The headquarters of the Civil Protection is in constant contact with the residents of that settlement, everyone is fine. When it comes to Drežnica, the Commission for Damages of the City of Mostar is scheduled to visit the affected areas tomorrow.
Hospitals in the HNK area have sufficient blood supplies, and all treated patients from the affected areas are stable. Antibiotics and tetanus vaccines have been provided for the Health Center in Jablanica, and two emergency teams, two family and one pediatric team, are going to Jablanica from the Mostar Health Center tomorrow. He will remain on the field at least until Wednesday, with the medical and technical staff changing.
A number of different specialized teams continue to work on repairing the broken transport, telecommunications and power infrastructure.
Due to the frequent overlapping of information on the ground and the appearance of unverified data, the HNK Government will publish the final daily report in the evening hours, after summing up all the officially certified information we receive from police stations and civil protection, according to the HNK Government.
