The Israeli army on Sunday ordered civilians in 26 border towns in southern Lebanon to evacuate immediately due to air and ground attacks on the country.
Army spokesman Avichay Adraee asked Lebanese residents to leave their homes and move north of the Awali River.
The list of targeted cities included Houla, Meiss Ej Jabal and Majdal Selm.
The airstrikes came at a time of intensifying Israeli bombardment of the southern suburbs, which Israel considers Hezbollah’s stronghold.
Last week’s attack on Beirut killed Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, and Friday’s attack targeted his potential successor, Hashem Safieddine.
Hezbollah and Israel have been engaged in a cross-border war since the start of Israel’s war in the Gaza Strip, which has killed more than 41,800 people, mostly women and children.
In Lebanon, at least 2,036 people were killed, more than 9,500 were wounded, and 1.2 million were displaced, according to data from the Lebanese authorities.
The international community has warned that Israeli attacks on Lebanon could escalate into a wider regional war, AA writes.
