The Social Democratic Party of Bosnia and Herzegovina (SDP) BiH declared an absolute victory in the capital Sarajevo.
The president of the Cantonal Board, Adnan Šteta, said that their candidates in Stari Grad and Novi Sarajevo, Irfan Čengić and Benjamina Karić, won.
He also declared the victory of SDP and Naša Stranka candidate Srđan Mandić in the Municipality of Centar.
Amar Dovadžija is the new mayor of the Municipality of Ilijaš, who is the candidate of SDP, Narod i Pravda and Naša Stranka, Šteta added.
In his address to the public, Čengić said that 65 percent of support gives him a great responsibility to continue to work responsibly and serve the Old Town.
Karić thanked the voters for their trust and said that there is no room for euphoria.
According to the current results, the candidate of the Party for Bosnia and Herzegovina (SBiH) Semir Efendić is convincingly leading the Sarajevo municipality of Novi Grad.
Based on the votes counted so far, Efendić leads with 74.4 percent, or 21,417 votes, while candidate Mirza Selimbegović (the candidate of three parties) has 25.6 percent, or 7,360 votes. This will be Efendić’s fourth term at the head of the municipality of Novi Grad.
Also, according to current data, Nermin Muzur, candidate of the Three coalition (NiP, SDP, NS), will retain the position of mayor of the Municipality of Ilidža. Muzur currently has a big advantage with 15,839 votes, while his only opponent from the SDA, Samir Lokvančić, won 5,201 votes.
Srđan Mandić is the new/old mayor of the Municipality of Centar Sarajevo, according to the results of the local elections so far.
Mandić thanked his fellow citizens from the Municipality of Centar who trusted him, as well as his partners from the SDP who supported him.
