On the occasion of March 1st – the Independence Day of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), organized by the Assembly and Government of the Zenica-Doboj Canton (ZDC), a solemn academy was held last night at the Bosnian National Theater of Zenica, where Jasmin Duvnjak, chairman of the ZDC Assembly, had a special speech.
While speaking of the importance of March 1st and the Independence Day, Duvnjak recalled on the February 29th and March 1st in 1992, when the citizens of our country voted for independent, sovereign and indivisible BiH. On that basis, on April 6th, an international recognition came from the European Community, followed by the United States on April 7th, and on May 22nd, our country was admitted to the organization of the United Nations.
“Our peoples Bosniaks, Serbs, Croats and all other citizens are equal to the legacy of the country’s history, and are equally responsible for its future. That means no one can have reason or interest in splitting it. Such reasons can come, as they regularly came, only outside the boundaries. Independent and sovereign state BiH is a necessity without which there is no peace and stability in the wider region, because without strong BiH, conflicts would deepen, and hate would strengthened, “ said the chairman of the ZDC Assembly, Jasmin Duvnjak.
He noted that today ZDC is one of the most economically developed regions in our country, with stable institutions, and this local community can be proud of the excellent organization of the police, the University of Zenica, sportsmen and cultural workers.
“It is a special pleasure to emphasize that we have very successful business companies, that our Canton has export import coverage, and strong industrial production, and that it represents the backbone of the development of this country,” Duvnjak emphasized.
