Speaker of the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia-Herzegovina Dragan Covic (HDZ party) will pay an official visit to the Russian Federation on February 10th and 11th, at the invitation of the President of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Valentina Matviyenko.

During the official stay in Moscow, it is also planned to visit the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation and for Covic to hold a lecture at the Balkan Club of the Center for Studies of Southeast Europe.

Considering that the invitation of Moscow is mainly answered by the members of the leadership of the Serbian Parliamentary Assembly of the Serb people Nikola Spiric and Nebojsa Radmanovic, it remains unknown for now whether the invitation was strictly addressed to Dragan Covic.

Valentina Matviyenko paid an official visit to Bosnia-Herzegovina in 2018. Speaking to delegates at the House of Peoples of the Bosnian Parliamentary Assembly, she talked about the “civil war” in BiH, ignoring the fact that in the 1990s, aggression occurred in the country.

At that time, she gave a real anti-Western speech that turned into a political scandal with numerous negative reactions.

Matviyenko said openly that America was hostile to Russia, criticized Montenegro for joining NATO and indirectly threatened North Macedonia if it went the same way. She called for the reform of BiH’s state judicial institutions and for the preservation of broad entity autonomy.

She made it clear that Russia is seeking to close the Office of the High Representative for BiH (OHR) as soon as possible, Klix.ba news portal reports.
