The British Embassy in Sarajevo, in cooperation with the Municipality of Novo Sarajevo, supports the exhibition of luxury and sports cars, which will be held today from 19:00 to 21:00 at Vilson’s Promenade. Visitors will have the opportunity to see some of the most iconic luxury and sports cars in the world, including the ultimate examples of the innovation and creativity of the British automotive industry.
The exhibition will feature 50 vehicles participating in the “A Driving Force” event, a British humanitarian drive that takes place every two years and this year runs from August 1 to 11 through ten countries. Participants are UK Armed Forces veterans and civilians who share a shared passion for cars and a commitment to supporting members of the armed forces.
The journey begins in Dunkirk, France, with a commemoration dedicated to the soldiers who gave their lives in the service of their country. The route then takes participants through France, Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Germany and Belgium, before returning to the United Kingdom.
As well as raising funds for SSAFA, one of the oldest humanitarian organizations supporting British soldiers, veterans and their families, the event will allow citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina to see a range of luxury supercars up close, including British brands such as Aston Martin, Jaguar, Lotus, TVR and McLaren.
The event also highlights the strength of the UK automotive industry, one of the country’s most successful advanced manufacturing sectors. This industry provides highly skilled jobs, encourages innovation and plays a leading role in the transition towards emission-free mobility. Through its Modern Industrial Strategy, the UK is investing in vehicle manufacturing, batteries and supply chains to maintain its position as one of the most globally competitive automotive manufacturing locations.
The British automotive sector is a world leader in engineering, research and development, investing approximately five billion pounds a year in innovation and advanced technologies.
This is the second visit of this humanitarian car adventure to Bosnia and Herzegovina. Several of the organizers are former members of the British Army who served in the Balkans and maintain strong ties to the region.
During the previous visit in 2018, they visited Mostar and Sarajevo, attracting great public interest, announced the Municipality of Novo Sarajevo.
