Record 20.3 Million BAM for the Employment of Persons with Disabilities

Fund for the Professional Rehabilitation and Employment of Persons with Disabilities of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina issued two public calls for 2026, through which a record 20.3 million BAM was allocated for the employment, job preservation, and professional rehabilitation of persons with disabilities.

Public Calls were published for the allocation of funds for financing and co-financing programs for employment sustainability, the development of companies for the employment of persons with disabilities and protective workshops, as well as professional rehabilitation programs for persons with disabilities, along with the Public Call for the allocation of financial incentives for new employment of persons with disabilities in 2026.

Incentives and Professional Rehabilitation Available to Persons with a 50% Disability

With the adoption of new regulations, the Fund has further enhanced the system for realizing rights to incentive funds and expanded the circle of people that can use its support. A major novelty is that individuals with a certified 50% disability are now eligible to access fund resources under prescribed rules.

Previously, only those with at least a 60% disability degree could apply for new employment monetary incentives, but support is now available to individuals with a 50% disability degree.

“For the first time, the support will be available to persons with a 50 percent disability degree, either through professional rehabilitation programs or through employers who hire them. By doing so, we are further expanding the support outreach and creating new opportunities for more equitable inclusion of persons with disabilities in the labour market,” said Ahmet Baljić, Director of the Fund for Professional Rehabilitation and Employment of Persons with Disabilities.

Up to 7,000 BAM for Education, Training and Procurement of Aids

Individuals with a 50% disability degree can also apply for LOT III professional rehabilitation programs, worth up to 7,000 BAM per beneficiary.

Funds are intended for financing or co-financing part-time secondary and higher education, additional qualification and retraining, passing professional exams, attending training sessions and courses, including IT courses, foreign languages, and taking the driving test. The program also covers the procurement of assistive devices and equipment necessary for a person with a disability for education, training and work.

Additional Incentives for Employers

Employers in the open labour market can apply for a monetary incentive for new employment of persons with a 50 percent disability degree, under general conditions of the public call.

This possibility applies to state bodies, judicial institutions, local administration bodies, public services and institutions, funds, public enterprises, business entities, and other legal entities that were not established primarily to employ persons with disabilities.

The new prescriptions further enhanced the possibility of using incentives for large and medium-sized employers.

“The large and medium-sized enterprises in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina are now able to submit requests for allocation of monetary incentives for an unlimited number of persons with disabilities. By doing so, we are creating additional incentives for employment and stronger inclusion of persons with disabilities in the open labour market,” Baljić emphasized.

Through the public calls, the Fund will support new employment, the preservation of existing jobs, improvement of working and business conditions for companies employing persons with disabilities and protective workshops, as well as the education and professional training of persons with disabilities.

The text of the public calls, application requirements, necessary documentation, and deadlines are available on the official website Fond.ba.
