“When we take the interference of politics in the profession during the pandemic, unclear guidelines for primary health care, the lack of innovative drugs for Covid-19 that Serbia acquired a long time ago, we come to a number of reasons that ranked us infamous in terms of mortality per million inhabitants in Europe,” President of the SDS Health Committee Slobodan Stanic said today.

According to him, 4,680 deaths per million inhabitants in Srpska “require some kind of revision and reconsideration of our wrong moves.”

Stanic said that the current “oxygen affair” and the procurement of antigen rapid tests are coming to all this, where the competent authorities have yet to determine all aspects.

The persons in charge of health care do not deal with the consequences, but with the causes. Mortality is extremely high in relation to the number of patients, and even when we look at a million inhabitants. The situation in the Republika Srpska is especially unfavorable, where 4,680 people per million inhabitants died of the Covid-19 infection on October 26 – Stanic said.

He emphasizes that he can agree to some extent with the fact that it was influenced by the age of the population and comorbidities, but that he cannot accept that it is a consequence of bad records, because Republika Srpska has a Law on Health Records, and clear guidelines had to be developed. confirmation and classification of death from Covid-19.

“If these guidelines have not been done, then it is a big omission, because they are available on the website of the World Health Organization and they only need to be downloaded and translated. It was necessary to continuously monitor the reporting, in order to avoid these arbitrariness,” says Stanic.
