The city administration of Banjaluka today declared a state of emergency in certain parts of the city due to problems with water supply. Such a decision was made at a meeting of the headquarters for emergency situations, and it refers to the settlements of Donja Kola, Rekavice jedan, Bronzani Majdan, Stratinska, Potkozarje, Verici, Ljubacevo and Donja Piskavica, the city administration announced.
“There are still local communities for which we have not decided whether to introduce a state of emergency, but the headquarters will discuss it at the next session in two days,” Banjaluka Mayor Drasko Stanivukovic told reporters.
Today, water restriction measures and increased control by the city’s control bodies and the police come into force, and places that remain without drinking water will be supplied by tankers.
“We call on citizens to use water rationally,” said Stanivukovic, adding that local communities in which a state of emergency has been declared and that have problems with water supply make up ten percent of the total population.
A new headquarters session on the issue of water supply is scheduled for Tuesday, July 5.
