According to the Federal Bureau of Statistics, in the first seven months of this year, 8.916 children were born in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH), which is a decrease of 3.3 percent compared to the same period last year.

During the first seven months, there were 734 births in Una-Sana Canton, 69 in Posavina, 1733 in Tuzla, 1622 in Zenica-Doboj, 81 in Bosnian-Podrinje, 929 in Central Bosnia, 839 in Herzegovina-Neretva, 419 in West Herzegovina, 2317 in Sarajevo, and 177 born in Canton 10.

Only 1.372 children were born in the FBiH during July this year, which is a decrease of almost 13 percent compared to last July, when 1.574 children were born, which largely, with negative numbers during the month of January, affected the overall decline of the number of births in this year.

The largest decline compared to last year was recorded in the Bosnian-Podrinje Canton, where there was a decrease of 22 percent when it comes to the number of children who were born in the first seven months, then in the Zenica-Doboj Canton decrease of 6.6 percent, Una-Sana and Central Bosnia 5.1 percent, and in Sarajevo where 4.5 percent fewer births were recorded.

In parallel, in the first seven months of this year, compared to the same period last year, there was a significant increase in the number of births in two cantons, 10.7 percent in Canton 10, and 7 percent in West Herzegovina Canton.

When it comes to Posavina, Tuzla, and Herzegovina-Neretva cantons, the number of births is similar to last year.

In the first seven months of this year, 16.708 people died in the FBiH and it is an increase of 29 percent compared to the same period last year, Klix.ba writes.
