‘’In future talks with the EU, BiH should try to achieve 500-600 million KM worth of incentives’’, says the Federal Minister.
The Vice-Premier and FBiH Federal Minister of Agriculture, Water and Forestry, Jerko Ivanković Lijanović and the Dean of the Agriculture and Food Faculty in Sarajevo prof.dr. Mirsad Kurtović signed an agreement on the construction of a medium-term development strategy for the development of the Agriculture sector in the FBiH from 2014-2018.
The purpose of the strategy is to obtain a detailed analysis of the current situation in order to define strategic orientations and goals of the Agriculture sector in the FBiH. The general orientation of the Common Agricultural Policy of the EU (ZAP) will be taken into consideration, where they will focus on the need for constant growth competitiveness, improving quality and food security, and protecting public health and preservation of environmental quality.
Minister Lijanović said that the medium-term strategy is the best investment of the Ministry for this year, noting that the purpose of the document is the alignment of the strategy for domestic agriculture with the EU Agriculture sector in the context of the negotiation process and beginning of BiH’s road to the EU.
The main tasks of the strategy are realistic analysis of the external and internal environment, the definition of strategic incentives, the construction of an action plan for individual goals, creation of a monitoring plan to assess the execution of the strategy plan and recommendations for the budget with sources of funding.
The Strategy plan should be finished by the end of the year, after which they would be addressed in a public hearing and with the approval of the FBiH and in parliamentary procedures. Its construction will cost around 275.000 KM.
