A full “Strawberry moon” lit up the sky above the San Francisco Bay, which could be seen from Foster City, California, reports Anadolu.
Because of its lower path, it is orange in color, for the same reason sunsets are orange or reddish.
This moon usually appears around the summer solstice, signaling the time to enjoy the bloom of summer flowers.
The name “Strawberry Moon” originates from Indian tribes and other peoples who gave it the name to indicate the period of ripening of strawberries and the moment when they were ready to be picked.
Since the Moon is then slightly lower in the sky, it appears larger than usual. This, NASA explains, is called the Moon illusion, AA writes.
