Students organized a Protest against the Draft Law on Higher Education

The Student Parliament of the University of Sarajevo organized a protest against the Draft Law on Higher Education in front of the building of the Government of the Sarajevo Canton.

About 300 students gathered at the protest, and in this way they want to say that they will not allow their views to be ignored.

“These protests are the culmination of the negligent attitude of the Ministry of Science, Higher Education and Youth and the Government of Sarajevo Canton towards young people who want to build their future in the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina,” they said.

They pointed out that they believe that the recently adopted Draft Law “is exclusively for the purpose of filling the cantonal budget, and that the University of Sarajevo (UNSA) will be brought on a par with private faculties.”

“A law that does not offer any solution to existing problems, a law that does not deal with corruption in education, a law that must be withdrawn from parliamentary procedure,” they added, BHRT writes.
