555239f5-acec-45dc-ba94-06bb0a0a0a6d-olimpijada-bh-matematicari1-previeworgFederal Ministry of Education and Science is organizing the official award ceremony for the best students of elementary and high schools in FBiH in the academic year 2015/2016 in Mostar, on Monday, in the Culture Center.

Three students of elementary schools and three students of high schools from every canton were nominated by the cantonal ministries of education, all except the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of the West Herzegovina Canton.

Therefore, 54 elementary and high school students will receive diplomas and financial rewards at the ceremony in Mostar. Recognitions will be presented by the federal Minister of Education and Science Elvira Dilberović, together with relevant cantonal ministers.

Seemingly nice news in the gloomy political reality in BiH. Unfortunately, politics have invaded this segment of the society as well, education, which is supposed to be far from the political influence. Namely, the most successful students are not among the winners, which surprised those who regularly follow the progress of young people in BiH. Those are students who won the world and European championships in mathematics and physics, who brought the most significant medals in BiH and those who made it possible for the BiH anthem to be hear and BiH flag to flutter on prestigious world championships.

Previously, the awards were mostly presented to those who won medals in world competitions. This year, awards for three best students from every canton will be presented according to unknown criteria.

The Ministry of Education of FBiH turned a blind eye to all successes and did not want to present a single award to students from Bosna Sema educational institutions, although they are mostly the winners of world Olympic medals in physics and mathematics.

There was no place on this list for the young man who won two silver medals at world Olympiads in physics and now studies at the MIT. The politics have gone that far that they do not shy away from the fact that they force the young people to go out of BiH because this country apparently does not need experts. In a couple of years, local media will report about success of those young people, but in America, Sweden, Germany…

Those whose knowledge impressed the world, but whose success is not recognized by BiH because their only sin is that they attended Bosna Sema educational institutions, and now students at prestigious universities throughout the world are Bahrudin Trbalić (International Physics Olympiad, top 20 in Europe) – MIT, Nermedin Džeković (silved medal at the International Physics Olympiad, top 20 in the world) – PMF, Salko Zlatko Lagumdžija (bronze medal at the International Mathematics Olympiad) – Brown University, Neira Kurtović (bronze medal at the International Mathematics Olympiad) – University of Oxford, and Adisa Bolić (bronze medal at the International Mathematics Olympiad) – 4th grade of the International High School Sarajevo.

The country currently does not have better, but politics decided to force their interests against the knowledge of these students, decided to work against their desire to stay in BiH and contribute to the development of the country.
