Citizens of BiH have around 3.289 EUR in average  for consumption and savings on an annual basis, which is by 41 % more in comparison to a period from 10 years ago, according to data from the German Institute for Research of the Market GfK.

According to a table prepared by the GfK, it is evident that the increase in the purchasing power of the citizens in BiH has been among the highest in the region since the year of 2008, while in absolute figure it is lower than the purchasing power of citizens in Serbia and Montenegro, but higher than the one of citizens in Macedonia and Albania.

According to this research, citizens of BiH are not much poorer than citizens of Bulgaria, which is a member of the EU.

As expected, Croatia and Slovenia are significantly above the rest of the countries in the region, including other members of the EU, Bulgaria and Romania.

It should also be noted that the survey considered the sum of all incomes, not just salaries. The renowned German institute GfK, which was founded back in 1934 under the name Gesellschaft für Konsumforschung (Society for Consumer Research), is one of the most respected research groups for global market and the largest research institution in Germany.

It is the fourth largest institution in the world, after Nielsen, Kantar Group and Ipsos, and it has more than 13,000 employees.
