Today, Sweden officially becomes the 32nd member of NATO, the White House announced.
“Sweden formally joins the Alliance on March 7, 2024 and thus becomes the 32nd ally,” the announcement stated.
The White House points out that Sweden is a strong democracy with high military capabilities, and that it shares the same values and vision of the world with the Alliance.
“Having Sweden as a NATO ally will make the United States and our allies even safer,” added the White House.
