“Edelweiss Air”, the branch of one of the most prestigious European Airline companies “SwissAir” is introducing flights from Banja Luka starting July 3, 2015 – SwissAir confirmed.
“The plan is that SwissAir flies from Sarajevo starting May 1, 2015 three times a week and that Edelweiss flies from Banja Luka starting July 3 two times a week,” SwissAir announced.
The director of the Banja Luka Airport, Miroslav Janjić, said that the negotiations with SwissAir are reaching the end but he cannot still officially confirm it.
“Not everything is yet elaborated, but there are some real chances,” said Janjić. He added that they were still discussing discounts in the initial period, as requested by SwissAir.
“On the other side, we expect them to understand that this market isn’t yet sufficiently developed and that the flying habits do not exist so we have to make a lot of effort to promote that line. We are ready to include in this project the town of Banja Luka and the RS Government,” Janjić pointed out.
He also explained that the use of the Airbus A320 is in circulation, a plane which has over 150 seats – which, according to Janjić’s opinion, shows a great enthusiasm by the Swiss.
“These are comfortable and large planes. It is the A class in the category of comfort. It’s up to them to choose which terms they want, if they find the morning or afternoon terms more convenient. All of that determines the potential profitability of the line. When it comes to us, we would like to see this project implemented because it would be great news for Banja Luka,” said Janjić.
The Swiss media report that “Swiss” along with “Edelweiss” plans to spread the line net towards the countries of the Balkans.
