System for Registration of Foreigners is already giving good Results

The newly established online system for registration of foreigners who are living in BiH called “E- Stranac (E-Foreigner)” is already giving good results.

All physical and legal persons in BiH, who provide accommodation to foreigners, now have a simple and very efficient way to conduct their registration at the Service for Foreigners’ Affairs. Besides the fact that this is their legal obligation, the registration of foreign guests is largely facilitated to all hotel owners and other providers of these services through a system available at http://www.estranac.ba/.

This modern tool was developed within the project “Support to Effective Management of Migrations and Borders in BiH”, which was supported by the Government of Switzerland and it was realized in cooperation of the Ministry of Security of BiH, the Service for Foreigners’ Affairs and the Criminal Policy Research Centre in Sarajevo.

Project leader from CPRC, Eldan Mujanovic, noted the importance of this tool in regard of the increase of the level of security in BiH and he estimated that it will be very helpful to the Service for Foreigners’ Affairs, which is dealing with this type of issues, as well as to all providers of accommodation.

“BiH is facing migration challenges, and we recorded an increasing number of tourists in the last few years, which makes this project even more relevant. The agreement on the realization of this project, whose value is estimated at 1.6 million BAM, was signed one year ago, and this tool is only one segment of this important project,” said Mujanovic.

According to the Agency for Statistics of BiH, a total of 1,307,319 persons visited our country last year, and a large number of them was unregistered because only half of this number was registered at the Service for Foreigners’ Affairs. The simple process of registration, through the “E- Stranac (E-Foreigner)” system, will increase the number of registered foreigners, and a large increase of security in our country is expected as well.
