The International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO), the most prestigious mathematical competition in the world, was held in the period from July 4 to 14. Each country is represented by six best students at this competition. Our country has great reasons to be proud on the excellent results of our representatives again this year.
At this year’s International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO), which was held in the city of Cluj in Romania, the team of BiH won four bronze medals and two recognitions.
Students Tijana Babic (Banja Luka), Amar Kuric (Sarajevo), Boris Velasevic (Sarajevo) and Dejan Stankovic (Foca) won bronze medals, while Adnan Sabanovic (Sarajevo) and Damjan Stankovic (Foca) won recognitions.
Leader of the team was Admir Besirevic and deputy leader was Marko Citic.
“In the competition of 107 countries, we won 43rd place. This is the third consecutive year when BiH won 4 medals, which we only succeeded in 2000. Moreover, this was the first time for the team of BiH to achieve a three digit score (a total of 103 while the previous record was 97), “stated our representatives.
This success is the result of years of preparation and math camps that are organized in BiH. This result is only one in the series of appeals to our country to urgently support young and successful staff from our country, who are bringing medals from the most prestigious competitions on a regular basis.
