Szijjarto: The Spread of the Conflict could lead to World War III

Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjártó warned that the spread of conflict from Ukraine and the Middle East to other countries could easily lead to a third world war.

“The most important international task at the moment is to avoid the escalation of the war in Ukraine and the Middle East,” Szijjarto announced on the Facebook social network.

He pointed out that several international organizations have failed to create peace in recent years.

He pointed out that the EU and other organizations have proven to be ineffective in moving the war in Ukraine towards peace in the last two years.

“Instead of peace, there are arms deliveries that prolong the conflict and lead to more victims,” Szijjarto added, MIT reports.

He said that, meanwhile, the global fight against terrorism received a “big blow” last October when Hamas launched thousands of rockets at Israel.

Szijjarto said the success of Israel’s counter-terrorism operations is a global interest, stressing the importance of protecting civilians and freeing hostages.

“The UN represents the last hope for preventing escalation in Ukraine and the Middle East,” he said, adding that he assured UN Secretary General António Guterres that Hungary would provide all support to the UN with the aim of establishing peace.

Szijjarto reminded that at the end of January, Hungary paid the last installment of its contribution as a member state for this year, which, as he pointed out, makes it one of the countries that ensures the efficient functioning of the organization, which, he says, cannot be said for all members.

“There is a rich and powerful country that owes the UN budget hundreds of millions of dollars,” Szijjarto said.

He pointed out that the UN is a key organization, because it has provided a platform for communication even between nations that are at war with each other.
