On the official Facebook page of the company HIFA Petrol was published a post in which they are calling on the purchase of T-shirts with the motive of Srebrenica flower, and there are divided opinions on social networks on whether this campaign is praiseworthy or it represents an immoral use of the Srebrenica tragedy for the promotion of a company.
“Exclusive sales of T- shirts at petrol stations HIFA Group. From Wednesday, the 29th of June, you will have the opportunity to purchase branded shirt ‘FH brand and HAAD design’ by Fikret Hodzic #ijasamizsrebrenice at all petrol stations of HIFA Group. Price of T-shirts is 25 BAM,” as written on their Facebook page.
Besides selling T-shirts with motifs of the Srebrenica tragedy, they also released a promotional giveaway on Facebook: “Win a branded T-shirt ‘FH brand’.” At the invitation for participation in the giveaway is written that it is necessary to write a sentence / quote or verse, which is linked to the memory of Srebrenica, in the comment section of the post.
“Be creative. The text must be original and not copied from some other web site. Comment with most likes will win the daily prize, branded T-shirt,” as written in the post.
Selling of T-shirts with motives of Srebrenica caused enthusiasm of some fans of HIFA’s Facebook page, especially Bosnians who are living outside the country, while others condemned the commercialization of symbols that are made by mothers from Srebrenica, who have only memories left of their beloved ones killed in the genocide in July 1995.
The one who wears a flower honors the victims and shows solidarity with mothers of Srebrenica, Prijedor, Kozarac, Foca, Visegrad and other places in BiH where war crimes were committed against civilians.
