Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BiH Zoran Tegeltija, at the invitation of the Federal Chancellor of the Republic of Austria Sebastian Kurz, is participating in the Western Balkans Summit in Vienna.

Addressing the plenary meeting of the heads of delegations, Chairman Tegeltija pointed out the fact that without solidarity and coordinated action it is not possible to achieve long-term sustainable recovery and that successful mass vaccination is a basic precondition for economic recovery and socio-economic recovery.

“The crisis caused by the spread of the pandemic emphasized the importance of regional cooperation and pointed out that the deepening of regional cooperation and economic connection represents an investment in greater resilience to potential crises in the future,” said Chairman Tegeltija and used the opportunity to thank Austria, as well as the Republic of Serbia, President Aleksandar Vučić and Prime Minister Ana Brnabić, for their assistance in procuring vaccines.

As an example of good practice of joint regional cooperation, Chairman Tegeltija mentioned the establishment of the so-called green corridors in a record time frame, which enabled the smooth flow of basic goods, shortened waiting times and reduced costs.

In the context of the accelerated recovery of the economy, he stressed the importance of enabling the unhindered movement of citizens and entrepreneurs of the Western Balkan countries to the EU through mutual recognition of digital Covid-19 certificates.

The Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BiH also emphasized the importance of the Economic and Investment Plan for the Western Balkans, which, as he pointed out, is important for connecting the economies of the Western Balkans with the EU, and stressed that the common regional market is not an alternative to the European path, but part of a joint effort to move closer to EU standards.

Today, Chairman Tegeltija will also attend the working lunch of the Summit participants with the Federal Chancellor of the Republic of Austria Sebastian Kurz, the BiH CoM stated in the press release.
