The Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BiH, Zoran Tegeltija, talked today via video link with the World Bank Regional Director for the Western Balkans, Linda Van Gelder, and the Head of the World Bank Office in BiH and Montenegro, Emanuel Salinas.

The meeting discussed the current program with this financial institution, and new projects in preparation, which are of great importance for BiH.

On this occasion, the Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BiH thanked the World Bank for its readiness to provide support and assistance to BiH. During the talks, it was stated that the portfolio of Bosnia and Herzegovina with the World Bank is very stable, without problematic projects, but that it is extremely important to accelerate the effectiveness and implementation of projects in the coming period.

On this occasion, Tegeltija especially emphasized the need to provide support for Bosnia and Herzegovina that will address not only the existing challenges, but also the new needs arising from the coronary virus pandemic and which can help the economic recovery.

He pointed out that the post-pandemic recovery will require the full engagement of all levels of government in BiH in order to improve the investment climate, emphasizing that significant investments will be necessary in digital development, education and health care.

The authorities in Bosnia and Herzegovina expect full World Bank support, both technical and financial, for structural reforms, primarily for health sector reform and public enterprise reform.

In addition to the mentioned projects, special attention was paid to projects related to post-pandemic economic recovery, such as: Project of recovery and support to companies in BiH, Project of modernization of water supply and sewerage services in BiH.
