Ten Persons Charged of War Crimes, in Custody

police sipaProsecutor of the Special Department of War Crimes of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH raised indictment against ten persons for war crimes in area of Zvornik.

Indictment was raised against Goran Maksimović, who resides in Bijeljina, Ljiljan Mitrović from Ugljevik and Radivoje Đorđić, Slavko Perić, Mile Vujević, Vukašin Drašković, Gojko Stevanović, Cvjetko Popadić, Rajo Lazarević and Mićo Manojlović from Zvornik.

All suspects are in custody.

They are accused of planning, managing and supervising operations and activities as high officials of police and military structures and along with other members of army forces participating in mass persecution of Bosniak population in wider areas of villages Lokanj, Zvornik municipality, and nearby municipalities and that way committing persecution of around hundred and twenty civilians, which included children and women.

After the persecution, they took the victims in convoys to different localities and imprisonment sites where they were tortured and abused in different ways and they executed imprisoned civilians on several occasions and killed more than 67 victims. After that the victims were thrown in a pit which was previous dug and prepared and exhumed bodies were exchanged on 4 June 1993 and 17 February 1994 in Teočak.

Interrogation of 141 witnessed and two court experts is also proposed with an extensive evidence material which includes more than 705 pieces of evidence and documents, which includes documentation on identification of victims of the crime.

The indictment was delivered to the Court of BiH for confirmation, the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH stated.
