Tens of Thousands of Believers at the 36th Anniversary of Medjugorje Phenomenon

medjugorje5Tens of thousands of believers gathered in Medjugorje on Sunday to mark the 36th anniversary of alleged apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary, whose credibility is being investigated by the Catholic Church.

Pilgrims from BiH and Croatia arrived on foot from nearby places, as well as from Austria, Italy, Germany, Poland, the USA and other countries of the world, and participated in masses and other gatherings, and they visited the site of the first alleged apparition of the Blessed Virgin Mary at Podbrdo.

The Holy Mass was celebrated at 11:00 AM by Fr. Karlo Lovric, the priest from Medjugorje, who noted that numerous spiritual and physical healing has been recorded over the years, which clearly testifies the presence of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

A traditional march of peace from Ljubuski to Medjugorje, which was started back in 1992 by German Hubert Liebherr, was held before the anniversary of the phenomenon of Medjugorje.

Six children said that they have seen a woman who sent them a message in this place on June 24, 1981. They ran away but they returned the next day and they say that the Blessed Virgin Mary is appearing and sending messages to them ever since.

The Holy See established a special commission for the study of the phenomenon of Medjugorje, which submitted its report to the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, and Pope Francis will give the final judgment on this issue.

This spring, Pope Francis appointed a special envoy for Medjugorje, Archbishop of Poland, Henryk Hoser, who is responsible for measures of pastoral care of believers.

Archbishop Hoser gave affirmative messages on the phenomenon of Medjugorje.
