Tense in Northern Kosovo: Explosive Device thrown, increased Police Presence

An explosive device was thrown near the Zvečan Municipality building, confirmed the Kosovo Police. There was material damage to the building, but no injuries, Zubinpotok.info reported.

Yellow tape was placed late on Thursday at at least two approaches to the Zvečan municipal building. The reason – a detonation that was heard from this direction around midnight.

In front of the municipality building itself, but also in its vicinity from several sides, there are reinforced forces of the Kosovo Police, writes Kossev.

In addition to regular police officers, there were also, apparently, members of the Kosovo Police special units with long barrels. At one point, their armored vehicle also passed in the immediate vicinity of the municipality.

Kossev was unable to find out from the police officers on the ground what exactly happened, or what caused the detonation that was heard from this direction around midnight.

However, in front of the Municipality building itself, police in uniforms and plainclothes could be seen conducting an on-site investigation, searching the entire area with flashlights.

And before that, they had stretched out yellow tape on at least two approaches to this municipality, making it impossible to pass through.

At the time of the search of the area, journalists noticed police officers picking up pieces of the damaged staircase in front of the Municipality building.

“Mitropol” reports, citing its own information, that it is suspected that a grenade was thrown.
