BiH - Thailand Meeting klix.baDeputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of BiH Josip Brkić hosted yesterday the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand Virasakdi Futrakula, with whom he spoke about bilateral relations and cooperation of the two countries in international organizations.

It was assessed that relations between BiH and Thailand are good and friendly and that it is necessary to keep working on developing economic cooperation and contractual regulation of relations. The interlocutors agreed that there are possibilities for improvement of cooperation in the field of tourism and agriculture. In this regard, it was agreed that first the institutional framework of future bilateral cooperation is established, i.e. that a memorandum of cooperation is signed.

Deputy Minister Brkić informed Futrakula about the foreign policy priorities of BiH and the current internal situation, with emphasis on the reforms that are being implemented. Brkić highlighted that BiH is interested in improving bilateral relations with Thailand, especially on the economic plan. Furthermore, Brkić suggested that an Agreement on the abolition of visas for holders of diplomatic and official travel documents is signed as soon as possible, no later than the end of this year.

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand said that his country is very experienced in the field of tourism, that Thailand has excellent schools for tourism workers, and proposed cooperation with BiH in that sense. Futrakula also said that Thailand, as the second largest economy in the Southeastern Asia, wants to open its international developmental agency – TICA – in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Deputy ministers exchanged information about multilateral cooperation of the two countries in international organizations and bodies, stated the Public Relations Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of BiH.
