The 28th anniversary of the martyrdom of Serbs from the area of Vozuća, the valley of the Krivaja river and the southern part of Ozren was marked. In the church of St. George, in the Zavidovići neighborhood, a memorial service was held for all the victims. The commander of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sakib Mahmuljin, was not held responsible for this crime.

In the courtyard of the church of St. George in Stog near Zavidovići, a large number of people gathered remembered the suffering of soldiers and civilians of Serbian nationality in 1995 in Vozuča. Mira Mikić lit a candle for her son, a fighter who died here.

MIRA MIKIĆ, mother of the killed fighter

“At the age of 22, when someone mentions September to me, I am terrified”.

NENAD DUBOČANIN, brother of the fallen fighter

“My brother died here, on this Vozuća. I come today and I will always return here again”.

This year, too, the participants of the march passed the path where, as they say, they were fleeing, from Zavidovići via Ozren towards Doboj. That September 1995, they say, 30 Serbian villages were burned, and 1,920 families were expelled from the fires.

ZORAN BLAGOJEVIĆ, president of the Native Association of Zavidovići

“In 1995, on September 10, 495 fighters died, 412 were missing, 283 were identified, and we are still looking for 129, they are still missing”.

RADAN OSTOJIĆ, president of the Veterans Organization of the Republika Srpska

“We walked more than 23 kilometers today, what delighted me was the number of participants, which increases every year, in this way we preserve and evoke the memory of what people survived, their sacrifice”.

And today in this place, there were few returnees to Vozuća. The ones Srna news agency found didn’t want to be in front of the cameras.

BOŠKO TOMIĆ, adviser to the Serbian member of the BiH Presidency

“It took a very long period, a very long period, for him to return, but the conditions need to be created for whoever wants to return, and I think the situation is already becoming somewhat more peaceful, because there is nowhere nicer to live than in the place where you were born”.

The memorial service for all the victims was held in the church of St. George, with the message to never forget. Commander Sakib Mahmuljin, who is currently outside the borders of Bosnia and Herzegovina, was convicted of crimes against the Serbian population committed by members of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the El Mujahid unit. And whose extradition from Turkey is sought by the BiH authorities, Srna reports.
