The Government of Tuzla Canton passed three decisions on giving consent to the decisions on the allocation of one-time financial aid for emergency interventions to the municipalities of Teočak, Sapna and Čelić.
These are the initial funds of the Government of Tuzla Canton for the elimination of damage caused by floods and landslides, which will help to create normal conditions for life in the threatened municipalities, which will be followed by an assessment of the damage and more significant assistance.
The decisions awarded one-time aid in the amount of 50,000 BAM each to the municipalities of Teočak, Sapna and Čelić for emergency interventions due to natural disasters caused by heavy rainfall, flash floods and landslides in 2023.
Also, the Government of TC made a Decision on accepting the text of the Request for the allocation of one-time financial aid for emergency interventions to the Municipality of Čelić in the course of a natural disaster, which will be sent to the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Federal Headquarters of Civil Protection.
At today’s extraordinary session, the Government of Tuzla Canton adopted the information of the Cantonal Administration of Civil Protection of Tuzla Canton, according to which in May and June of this year, the greatest material damage was caused by floods and landslides in the areas of the Municipality of Čelić, Teočak and Sapna, and the preliminary estimate of the damage is 18 million BAM.
”Preliminary assessments show that the extent of the damage exceeds the economic capabilities of municipalities and cantons, and the help of higher levels of government will be necessary. Municipal commissions for damage assessment have made preliminary damage assessments from floods and landslides for three municipalities” the Government of Tuzla Canton states.
Landslides have been activated in the area of the canton, threatening residential and auxiliary buildings, roads and watercourses. A state of natural disaster due to floods and landslides has been declared in the area of four municipalities and at the level of the Tuzla Canton.
During the protection and rescue operations, the evacuation of several families who were placed with relatives was carried out. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Turkey participates and makes a great contribution to the normalization of life, communications, and security. During the duration of the accident and during the protection and rescue operations, there were no fatalities or serious injuries to citizens and rescuers.
