The 75th Anniversary of the Battle of Sutjeska marked on Tjentiste

Yesterday, in the presence of hundreds of people who respect the National Liberation War, the 75thanniversary pf the Battle of Sutjeska was marked by laying wreaths and a cultural-artistic program in the Valley of Heroes at Tjentiste.

“Here was primarily the struggle for life against those who came to take our lives and freedom. This is a historic event, and we need to raise it to a higher level, especially when it comes to our young generations,” stated Savanovic.

Minister of Industry, Energy and Mining Petar Djokic stated that all organizations that nurture heritage of antifascism should mark this historic event.

“I would love and I would be very happy if everyone would be united and I believe that it can happen. Anti-fascism is deeply incorporated in the consciousness of our people in this area, because we know how much we had to sacrifice for freedom and what this freedom brought us – peace, prosperity and the greatest development in this region,” noted Djokic.

Mayor of the Municipality of Foca, Radisav Masic, noted that Sutjeska represents a great victory over fascism.

Around 20,000 partisans fought against 120,000 German soldiers and their local helpers in the Battle of Sutjeska.

The battles took place between May 15 and June 13, when the Partisans, with huge losses, managed to find their way out through Sutjeska River.
