The “Advent in Mostar” Event to begin soon

The annual event “Advent in Mostar” will begin on Saturday, November 30th, with the lighting of the first Advent candle. The hospitality stands and the ice skating rink will open on December 6th, while the entertainment program is set to start on December 15th with a concert by Klapa Rispet.

“Last year, the major regional star Zeljko Joksimovic performed and we achieved our strategic goal, which was to attract attention to Mostar and position it as the city in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH)with the largest New Year’s Eve celebration. This year, we adopted a different approach, opting for a three-day New Year’s celebration featuring three prominent bands, as well as our local groups that are also regionally recognized,” stated Marin Culjak, advisor to the Mayor of Mostar.

Thus, on Monday, December 30th, Mostar Sevdah Reunion and the National Orchestra will perform; on December 31st, Zoster and Sasa Kovacevic will take the stage; and on the first day of the new year 2025, Prljavo Kazaliste and the band Gabriel will perform at the Mostar promenade.

Advent stands

“We will have stands on the main Advent platform and two additional stands near the ice skating rink. We reduced the number of stands to avoid large crowds in the promenade and hospitality areas. In total, there will be 23 stands – 21 on the Advent platform, which has hosted New Year’s celebrations in previous years. Two ‘sweet’ stands will be located near the Gymnasium, where the ice skating rink will also be situated,” explained Ivana Maric, head of the City of Mostar’s Economy Department and one of the event coordinators.

Guests from Serbia and Southern Dalmatia

The Tourist Board of the City of Mostar also participated in the organization of this manifestation.

“We opted for this concept in hopes of extending the duration of stays and increasing spending. Sustainable tourism development and involving the local community are the foundations of our approach, which is why we chose these music stars,” said Nikica Cerkez, a representative of the Tourist Board of Mostar.

He noted that a significant number of guests are expected from Serbia, especially with the new Belgrade-Mostar flight connection, as well as from Southern Dalmatia. Regarding visitor numbers, current estimates remain approximate due to a lack of precise measurement methods.

The “Advent in Mostar” event will be held until January 8th.
