Arabs in B&H depo.baAlthough they do not have a significant share in the overall statistics, an increasing number of tourists coming from the Arab world is evident in B&H, at least when it comes to Sarajevo and the surroundings. Since 2011, an increasing number of tourists from Kuwait, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates is coming to B&H.

According to Asja Hadziefendic-Mesic, the spokesperson for the Tourist Board of the Sarajevo Canton, 38.000 tourists visited Sarajevo in July. When it comes to the Arab countries, the largest number of tourists came from the United Arab Emirates, 1.414 of them.

Regarding the realized overnight stays, the Arab tourists stay in B&H the longest, approximately six or seven days. In the hotel Hollywood in Ilidza, between 600 and 800 guests from the Bay stay every day in July and August.

However, a large number of Arab countries citizens come to B&H for a considerably longer period of time. While some of them are buyin weekend houses, although they do not intend on living in B&H, others are buying entire villages.

“The citizens of the Arab countries are buying weekend houses in a large number, especially at the territory of Ilidza, so they could come to our country during vacations“, said the director of the real estate agency Ab-dom Vedina Delki.

They are delighted with nature in B&H, and all of them want to buy land or houses in vicinity of the water springs.

“Water represents life for them, they enjoy here“, Delki pointed out.

The arrival of businessmen in B&H is also increasing. They want to invest in B&H. Precisely because of that, they have registered a large number of companies in B&H so they could buy a real estate as the foreign citizens at all.

“One of my clients wanted to buy 12.000 dunums of land here so he could engage in the production of organic food. He is coming from the Emirates, and they have their factories in Dubai with 400 employees. It is the company Al-Shourafa Group, and they also have a registered company in Sarajevo – Tasali group“, said Delki.

Others, however, are buying land in B&H to build real estate which they will then sell to their compatriots. Therefore, the abandoned villags and larger areas of land became target of many real estate agents.

“They have bought large areas of land not only in Sarajevo, but also in Ilidza, Visoko, Malusici, Cekrcici. Just couple of days ago, 100 dunums of land near Visoko were bought“, Delki said.

Some of the citizens of Arab countries opted for a permanent residence in B&H after visiting our country. The wealthy foreigners, according to Delki, travel the world and come back to B&H.
