The Armed Forces of BiH are left without Equipment worth Twenty Million BAM?

Three MLRs, 138 assault mortars 60 millimeters, one million and 700 thousand pieces of bullets 12.7 mm, 3.7 million bullets 7.62 mm, 717 rockets for RPG, 70 recoilless guns 82 mm, 61 guns ZIS, a hundred machine guns, six howitzers.

All this, and many other weapons and ammunition, will be confiscated from the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina (AFBiH), based on the Decision of the Court of BiH in December 2019. For several months now, the seizure has been carried out at the request of the Zagreb company “SCOUT”, on the basis of earlier unimplemented contracts on the delivery of surplus weapons.

”Part of the ammunition has been confiscated so far. Most of it is from surplus, i.e. unpromising weapons and ammunition, while the other, smaller part is partly exempted from our regular warehouses,” confirmed BiH Defense Minister Sifet Podzic.

So far, only ammunition has been seized, with an average age of 37 years. Over two million bullets of 7.62 mm caliber were confiscated.

To recall, the Zagreb company “Scout” signed contracts with entity ministries of defense about the purchase of surplus weapons about twenty years ago. After the Ministry of Defense of BiH was established, and the Entity Ministry was abolished, the State of BiH became the legal follower of these treaties. However, the contracts were not respected. In 2010, the Ministry of Defense of BiH, headed by Selmo Cikotic, concluded contract annexes to earlier contracts with Scout. Cikotic is currently on trial for signing annexes to disputed contracts. Despite the annexes, the Zagreb company filed a lawsuit against BiH for non-fulfillment of previous contracts and in 2017 the Court of BiH issued a verdict stating that the Ministry of Defense of BiH must supply Scout with arms and ammunition worth 20 million BAM. In December 2019, the judgment became final and the Court of BiH issued a decision on execution, that is, on confiscation in favor of Scout.

The seizure began two months ago. One part of the ammunition was seized by Scout in the barracks of the Armed Forces in Doboj and Glamoc. These are rockets 106. They were declared unstable. However, Scout representatives took them out on their own responsibility and took them to the Binas warehouse in Bugojno, which does not meet the conditions for storing this type of ammunition, Istraga reports.
