Jazz Fest Opened klix.baThe 19th edition of the Jazz Fest was opened last night with the performance of the band of the American pianist of Armenian origin, Tigran Hamasyan.

Tigran Hamasyan was also a guest at one of the previous editions of Jazz Fest, but in a solo pianist performance at the House of Armed Forces of B&H. This year, Hamasyan performed with his trio which, besides him, includes a killer rhythm section consisted of Sam Minaie on the bass and Arthur Hnatek with the drums.

The Sarajevo audience enjoyed a one-and-a-half hour fierce performance of Hamasyan’s trio which presented a mixture of traditional Armenian music and jazz improvisations in an impressively creative way.

The Macedonian saxophonist Kiril Kuzmanov opened the Late Nite Stage program the same night at 10 p.m. in the Monument Club. Kuzmanov performed together with the BH band consisted of Dino Šukalo, Adis Sirbubalo, Edvin Hadžić and Amar Češljar.

The 19th Jazz Fest will also bring other significant names of the world jazz, among others the famous guitarist Al DiMeola, winner of Grammy Kurt Eling, innovative Jason Moran, as well as the significant author from the former Yugoslavia, the drummer Vladimir Kostadinović, who will present himself to the Sarajevo audience with his quartet.
