The Beating of the Boy in BiH raised national Tensions on social Networks

On Thursday, May 26th, there was an incident at the “Milutin Milankovic” high school in Milici, during which a 17-year-old man was beaten and eventually operated on in the Bijeljina hospital due to a broken jaw. Tensions have risen on social media as the boy is a Bosniak.

After the incident, the police confirmed that there was a conflict between two minors in the hallway of the gym of the high school in Milici.

They stated that the boy A.A. (17) was immediately transported to the hospital, and as his mother said at the time, he was taken to the surgery department due to a fractured jaw.

She also said her son had had problems with a troubled boy who had now broken his jaw.

”He had problems before, it happened in P.E. class that this troubled boy attacked him,” she stated.

The information appeared on social networks that the boy was attacked by several people and that the reason was national intolerance, but his mother says that only one boy took part in the fight and that it was peer violence.

”He is calm, otherwise no one is provoking him, but peer violence must be taken into account. None of the teachers were there at the time, but they came later when my son was already on the floor,” she added.

Also, the high school where the incident took place did not officially announce after the event, despite the fact that it caused a lot of attention on social networks. They did not clearly say how the conflict occurred and whether the teenager was sanctioned.

Alija Tabakovic, the president of the Caucus of Delegates of the Bosniak people in the Council of Peoples of the Republika Srpska (RS), said earlier that he had initially received conflicting information about how many people took part in the fight, however, he called on the police to conduct an impartial investigation and begged people not to fall for Facebook stories and to wait for the results of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of RS, Klix.ba writes.
