The Embassy of the United States of America in Bosnia and Herzegovina handed over a renovated patrol vessel to the Border Police of BiH, which will be used in Neum to monitor and protect the state border at sea.
The US Embassy announced that the assistance was financed by the US State Department’s Counter-Terrorism Office, while it was implemented through the International Criminal Investigation Training Assistance Program – ICITAP.
“The Embassy of the United States of America in Bosnia and Herzegovina is proud to have handed over a newly renovated patrol vessel to the Border Police in Neum,” the Embassy stated in a post on the X social network.
It was pointed out that this support will further strengthen the partnership between the USA and Bosnia and Herzegovina in the fight against transnational crime and terrorism and in responding to security threats at the border.
The Border Police of Bosnia and Herzegovina thus gains additional capacity for surveillance of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s territorial waters and operations at Bosnia and Herzegovina’s only outlet to the Adriatic Sea.
ICITAP operates within the Criminal Division of the US Department of Justice and provides assistance to partner countries in strengthening police and security capacities, including in the area of border and maritime security.
For years, the United States of America has provided support to the BiH Border Police through equipment, professional training and the development of police capacities.
