The Bosniak Caucus vetoed the Decision on the Referendum in the RS

Bosniak Caucus RS avaz.baThe Bosniak Caucus in the Council of Peoples of the RS vetoed yesterday the decision of the National Assembly of RS on the referendum in this entity on the Court and the Prosecutor’s Office of B&H.

The head of the Bosniak Caucus Mujo Hadžiomerović confirmed that the club raised the issue of the protection of the vital national interest for the decision on the referendum in the RS on the Court and the Prosecutor’s Office of B&H, because they believe it is unacceptable for an entity to contest the judicial institutions of the state.

The Bosniak Caucus will, as he emphasized, use all legal means to challenge the, for them, unacceptable decision on the referendum and to prove that the Court and the Prosecution are the institutions founded in accordance with the Constitution of B&H.

Hadžiomerović said that this decision was reached unanimously in the Bosniak Caucus, and he hopes that they could get support from some other delegates, primarily those from the Croat Caucus, at the session of the Council of Peoples. Yesterday the Croat Caucus decided not to raise the issue of the protection of the vital national interest with regard to the calling of a referendum, and Hadžiomerović said that such a decision is regrettable.

“However, as I was told, that decision of the Croat Caucus was not supported by three members, and I expect them to be with us at the session of the Council of Peoples“, Hadžiomerović said.

He announced that the Bosniak Caucus will request a review of constitutionality of the Law on referendum in the RS which was passed in 2010, because they believe that the act has no foundation in the Constitution of RS.

Hadžiomerović also said that, if the Constitutional Court of RS rejects the veto of the Bosniaks, they will request that the Constitutional Court of BiH also declares about the decision on the referendum.
